Why GCam Sometimes Misbehaves on Realme
Realme UI shares its core with Oppo’s ColorOS. According to a 2024 Canalys report, Realme grew 11 percent year over year in India, which is also the largest GCam user base in the world. That popularity means lots of “won’t open” reports, but every single one is fixable in minutes.
Fix 1: Confirm Camera2 API Is Enabled
This is the most common cause. About 60 percent of Realme GCam issues come down to Camera2 API being disabled.

Fix 2: Install the Right Build for Your Realme Model
The Realme number series and GT series usually run BSG MGC ports well. Narzo and C series often do better with BigKaka AGC builds.

Fix 3: Clear Cache and Force Stop the App
If GCam opens then closes immediately, the cache is often corrupted. Open Settings, App management, find GCam. Tap Storage. Tap Clear Cache. Then Force Stop. Open the app again.
Fix 4: Grant Camera and Storage Permissions Manually
Realme UI blocks permissions for sideloaded apps aggressively. If GCam shows a black screen, this is usually why.
Go to Settings, App management, GCam, Permissions. Set Camera, Microphone, and Storage to Allow. Choose “Allow all the time” everywhere it asks.
Fix 5: Load a Realme-Specific Config File
A config file fine-tunes ISO, sharpness, and HDR for your exact Realme model. Without one, photos may look flat or noisy.
Search Celsoazevedo for “Narzo 60 Shamim config” or your model equivalent. Save the XML inside the GCam folder on internal storage. Open GCam, double-tap the black area next to the shutter, and load it.
Fix 6: Disable Battery Optimization for GCam
Realme UI’s battery saver kills camera processing aggressively. This makes GCam slow or causes freezes during HDR+ stacking.
Go to Settings, Battery, App battery management. Find GCam. Set it to “Allow background activity” and disable “Sleep” and “Deep Sleep.” Also enable Auto-launch for GCam in Settings, App management.

Fix 7: Try an Older Stable GCam Build
The newest GCam build is not always the most stable on Realme. If MGC 9.7.047 keeps crashing, try MGC 9.4.103 or 9.1.098. These older builds are battle-tested across hundreds of Realme models.
